Hello again and welcome. Here are some titles that I have read, enjoyed and posted some thoughts about. Some are related to spiritual growth, psychological healing or just plain fun, distracting novels that are great to relax with (or pull you into a story you cannot put down). I also read memoirs, so many that they may need their own page.
This is a work in constant progress. I have read many books over many years and feel passionate about sharing these. As new or old ones come to mind, I will add them.
Feel free to reach out with your favorites if you would like. I cannot guarantee I will be able to read them right away but have greatly benefited from what clients have shared with me through the years about books that have been helpful in their life or healing journey.
Addiction & Grace by Gerald May, MD (healing, spiritual growth)
The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD (psychology, trauma, healing)
Kenneth Carter, PhD (multiple books, trainings on ADHD, psychopharmacology) Very helpful!
Pastor/author Gary Thomas (multiple books on spiritual growth, personal favorite is Authentic Faith)
Cloud & Townsend (multiple books, personal favorites: Boundaries in Dating, Boundaries in Marriage)
What could he be thinking? by Michael Gurian (psychology, neuroscience, growth, couple’s therapy)
He’s Been Faithful by Carol Cymbala, director of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir (spiritual, memoir)
For Women Only by Shaunti Feldhahn (psychology, growth, couple’s therapy)
The following are “fun” books. Not everyone considers suspense novels “relaxing”. That’s fair :).
Gillian McCallister is fantastic. My favorite has been Wrong place, wrong time but they are all good.
John Grisham’s legal dramas are the best. Some recent books, I have skipped.
Liane Moriarty, all are good. My favorites: The Husband’s Secret, The Hypnotist’s Love Story.
Karen Cleveland has about three spy novels, which are all similar, and great.
Mike Lawson has many mystery/suspense novels, most of which I have read and enjoyed.
Michael Crichton, Charles Martin, Harlan Coben (mystery/suspense)
Miracle Creek by Angie Kim, Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn (mystery/suspense)
Leila Meacham, historical fiction novels. All are good. My favorite is Dragonfly, WWII.
Kristin Hannah, historical fiction. The Great Alone, Comfort & Joy, Winter Garden, many others :).
Woman of God by James Patterson & Maxine Paetro, fascinating story of a female missionary.
Ken Follett, Paula McLain, Julian Fellowes (well written historical fiction novels)
